A Yard sale has so much stuff it tends to spill into your yard. It’s not very structured and is a fun day in the community. An Estate sale is the sale of items from an estate to sell items from the home. Many Estate Sales are managed by companies hired by the individual to help with selling an entire home of possessions. More businesslike – usually goes 3 days. A Garage - Yard sale at Sunshine – residents are all out there and it attracts many residents who may also have their sale. Great social day too. An Estate sale is a business function and the Company does a call out to “their friends and associates” to enhance the buying power from their wide customer base as well as place ads professionally to advertise in advance via print and social media, website etc. Safety and security concerns increase. The customer base is expanded. This summer, many Winter Texans are already home. Please sign up for random Neighborhood Watch Patrols for these days. You can use your own golf cart. Wear your orange vest – it speaks volumes. The special signup sheet and details are in the Library on the NW bulletin board. SEPO & Covid-19 Restrictions Covid-19 & SEPO Board Approved Announcement as of the March 25, 2022 Board meeting There are no longer any Covid-19 restrictions within all SEPO Community Property. That includes all buildings, pool, pavilion, gazebo, golf course etc. Also, the Board is no longer requesting the Covid-19 statement/disclaimer be read at SEPO meetings and events. Everyone should feel free to wear a mask or take any other safety precautions they feel necessary to protect themselves. And, as is always suggested with a cold, flu, etc., if you feel sick, please stay home and do not expose others. We thank you for your diligence these past months/years in doing everything possible to keep our Sunshine Community safe and protected. NOTE: The justification for lifting any restrictions is based on current CDC recommendations and Cameron County statistics dated March 2022. Sent 2020-11-14: Sunshine Heroes Wall of Honor - Project Background - It was decided here at Sunshine that we would recognize our neighbors, not for a single act of heroism but their heroic service. We wanted to recognize the people from our community who made a commitment to give part of their lives for the benefit of others. This is what the SUNSHINE HEROES Wall of Honor represents. It is our way to recognize them and say thank you for your service. Last Spring in Retzlaff Hall, we unveiled our Sunshine Heroes Wall of Honor complete with their engraved names on an individual metal plate. There is also a Memory Book of photos of our heroes. This touching monument serves as a reminder that many of our residents sacrificed their lives for the freedom we enjoy today. (See picture below.) (Author unknown) What Is A Hero? - Dictionary.com defines a hero as a person noted for courageous acts or nobility of character. A true hero is someone who gives of themselves for the benefit of others, sometimes at great personal risk. There are many in our community who have given parts of their lives in the service of our country regardless of the risk. There are those who have chosen a career of community service – Law enforcement, First Responders and Fire Fighters are examples. All these people have given freely of themselves for the benefit of others. These are a few examples of what we can all recognize as heroes, but we do not usually honor them for their service. If you save a person from a car accident or give CPR to someone you would be recognized for heroism. The person who donates blood to help others is a hero. A person who may donate an organ or bone marrow is a hero. Are these very special people any more heroic then the others who served us? The email states the treasurer doesn’t have an app, or can’t do this themselves. Please call the supposed sender and confirm this is a scam. The monetary amount varies in each instance. The signup sheet is posted on the wall outside the office where Men's Golf League info is posted. Team assignments will be posted there Friday afternoon. The $1 prize fee can be deposited in the Saturday lock box in the lounge or brought to the Pavilion before 9:00 on Saturday. Scorecards will be available then. As indicated before, prize distribution will be in the pavilion after play. Bring your own drinks, if desired. SEPO restrictions regarding carts, masks, etc. will apply. These attracted as many as 90 participants in the past, and provided friendly competition and the opportunity to become acquainted with other residents. We will consider starting this again, if there is sufficient interest expressed, or more residents have returned to our community. Winnings will be paid out of money collected. Golfers will play their own balls. You will not need to wear a mask when playing but do keep 6 ft away from other players. Question: Could you please direct me to where in the Covenants it says only two information meetings are required? Answer: I can't, this is all I can find in our covenants etc concerning meetings. All board meetings are open to the public, anyone may attend and request to speak at these meetings. Donations to SEPO: When an individual, committee or organization purchases “something” for SEPO, then ownership becomes SEPO’s unless explicitly noted otherwise. Once accepted by SEPO (either explicitly or implicitly), future maintenance, usage, replacement or removal will be SEPO’s responsibility and expense. If SEPO has ownership, the board will have sole discretion for its usage and whether replacement or removal is in SEPO interest at that time. There is no guarantee of replacement. If ownership remains with the donor, then future maintenance, usage, replacement and removal will be the owner’s responsibility and expense, however, SEPO may request its removal at any time for any reason or no reason. The following motion was brought to the floor regarding trail fees at the February 19th Board meeting and passed unanimously. Long term residents will probably point out this was the intention when the trail fess were established but has been lost over the years. All Trail Fees collected will be placed in a designated fund for golf trails (concrete paths) and not placed in the general funds such funds will be strictly used for maintenance or installation of new golf trails. I have two openings left & would like for someone new (or just new to the patrol) to consider joining our patrol. The current open days are Thursday (alternating) and Saturday (alternating). The summer patrol runs from 9:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. and consists of a drive around and lock up of all buildings. It will not begin until the end of April (Thurs) or the beginning of May (Sat) and ends at the beginning of October. We can easily make allowances for summer trips (if that concerns you). S EPO Community Emails: May 2025 Sent 2025-05-28: Trench - People of Sunshine! We’ve started on the Well and have opened a trench on the east side of hole #6. It’s not very deep but it is a hazard! If you should send a ball in that area and it goes in the trench please leave it. We will check the trench daily and put any balls found in the tray by the 2nd hole. The dirt is high around both sides of the trench and we don’t want anyone falling in or kicking dirt back in the trench till we have completed the electrical and plumbing installation.
