Ten members of the Rock Club met Monday, August 7th. A good and fruitful discussion was had with the following outcomes:

Karren Amos is taking a leave to deal with her medical issues. She remains a consultant and supporter of the club.

Anita Lamb Smith will continue to keep the books for the club.
-
Catherine Cummings Richmond will serve as club communicator.
-
Meetings will continue to be held according to the schedule of twice a month (first and fourth Mondays unless a holiday interferes). See Sunshine website HERE for exact dates remaining in 2023.

The club will continue to create rocks for the Ronald McDonald house. You can create rocks at home and donate them and the club will create rocks at their meetings.

Anita Smith will work on creating a private Facebook group for rock club members only to share ideas and their creations. This will take some time as she is very busy right now.

Vicky Andreatos offered to give a class on acrylic pour painting tiles for coasters in the future. Great for gifts!
All members familiarized themselves with the products in the storage area used by the rock club.

There's binders with lots of suggestions of what members might want to paint.
New members are welcome to meet with us. We have a basic painting welcome package for sale for new members for $5. Welcome package includes 2 rocks, 5 basic colors of paint, chalk, paint brush and more!
We charge $5 for each meeting which covers, rocks, paints, brushes and other painting materials.

I'm tentatively planning on driving to Southern Stone & Soil, TUESDAY, 6 June 2023, 8am to buy rocks for myself.
Anyone interested in taking a trip there to buy rocks?
Southern Stone usually treats us very well, using a golf cart to and from the rocks, weigh them and put the rocks into the trunk.

Participants: Open to all Sunshine Residents/Renters, men and women, and their immediate adult family members. Persons with no “rock painting” experiences and those with some “rock painting” experiences are encouraged to join us and have some fun!

Just a quick reminder – our rock painting club mission is to spread kindness!

Cost: In order to cover the cost of rocks and painting materials being supplied, there is a $5 per participant fee per session. New members receive a “welcome kits” containing paint, paint brush, rocks, “chalk”, and a few other “must haves“ for rock painters! Rocks may usually be purchased after the “monthly “ Rock Painting meetings, $1 per rock, maximum of 5 rocks.
The Sunshine Rock Painting Club & Sunny Glen Children's Home in San Benito jointly agreed to postpone the 7th of January 2023 event at the “children's home request.” NOTE: We plan to reschedule during their March spring break.
Upcoming Rock Painting Club “project being discussed” - painting rocks for a local “Nursing Home!”

Re: our Saturday, Jan 7th plans to meet and paint with the youngsters at Sunny Glen Children's Home:
the meeting and painting of rocks with the children was postponed until sometime during their March Spring Break.
Plans changed due to Illness at the home, but we delivered the painted rocks, treats & a special "donated" gift to a representative of the home. We kept all of the small painted rocks for later. Thanks to all who prepared "chalked", painted, and decorated rocks for the "kids". I'm sure they loved what they received from us. The representatives were very appreciative.

Rocks will be $1 each. Please try to bring exact change. There will be a limit of 5 rocks per person at this time so we will have enough rocks for anyone who wants them. I've invited a member of Harlingen Rocks to demonstrate painting flowers on rocks with brushes, blending colors for the flowered rocks etc.

I contacted the SEPO Office and changed two dates for the Rock Painting Club.
An "*" before the dates below indicate where I moved the Rock Painting to the following Monday (for July 4th and Labor Day holidays. This denotes the change from the 1st week to the 2nd week of those two months where there are holidays on the 1st Monday.
Note: my original suggestion only listed dates in May 2022. I overlooked the need to extend our meeting dates to the end of the year.

TO all:
I am trying to see if there's any interest in ROCK PAINTING at Sunshine! It would be a good hobby during very hot periods of time. You do not have to have any previous rock painting, or any painting talent at all.
Have you noticed painted rocks by the mailbox entry? I left them for anyone that would want them. They are always gone the next time I go check our mail, and leave another rock. I've received feedback for a couple of the rocks I left there. One is on its' way to WI by a Sunshine resident.
If you are interested, please let me know by contacting me per my information below.
Depending on interest, or not, I will be providing further details on how this would work. Best days, times, etc. Those that are interested could go to FB Harlingen Rocks to get a glimpse of "painted rocks"! Anyone could enjoy this activity with no previous painting or art experience.
