Sent 2026-03-28: HELP NEEDED Part-Time Volunteers for this Summer -

Since the water shortage started three summers ago, a few individuals had been transporting water from their homes to the gardens on Texas Avenue.

This Spring, two clubs have partnered to install 3 barrels (refilled twice a week) to simplify the watering effort. And, to ensure water is distributed appropriately in each area, Judy Stone and Chris Snyder will be coordinating the volunteers, based on their availability.

If you are willing to help water, please contact Judy 715-813-0770 or Chris 361-816-9565 (Text only)

Thank you for your help!!

Sent 2026-03-28: Hot tub -

(From Facebook: Pat Heinerikson, SEPO Board)

We have tried since yesterday to get the hot tub to work. We bought a part on Friday thinking that was it and obviously it wasn’t. Hot tub has been very erratic. We’re trying to fix it. Sorry about the inconvenience. I don’t want to say it’s closed, but it’s definitely not working correctly. Just a heads up. We’ll update when I have more confidence to say that it's working correctly.

Sent 2026-03-27: Elementary School Christmas -

(From Facebook: Mary Hull)
Think Christmas in July!! When sales start for school supplies, please consider purchasing pencils 24 PK Crayola crayons, erasers, kids scissors, pencil cases and board games good for 2nd graders (no batteries). Or a check to purchase needed supplies, backpacks and pillows would be greatly appreciated.

I'm here through May and back in October, but Pam Davis can also deposit checks in the account I have set up through the summer. This year will be a much larger group as Jefferson Elementary students will be moving to join Lamar elementary this fall. From what I can see online, the 34 I had expected will now jump to 100 2nd graders. So, I'm reaching out now to Sunshine residents to open your hearts to help these economically disadvantaged children.

Jan and her Killer Bees will be making special pillowcases again, AND luggage tags to attach to the backpacks!!!!! Wow I can't thank them enough!!

Not everyone can afford to contribute, so please keep us in your prayers that we collect enough. I do have pillows and backpacks for about 40 with money left over from last year, so it's a start.

Sent 2026-03-25: Information as we end our winter season -

Good day, Sunshine residents. A few items to touch on as many of you plan your departures back north, and our full-time residents get ready for the heat.

BOARD MEETING – We will hold an additional board meeting on Monday, April 13, at 1 p.m. (NOTE - there will be no residents meeting the next day). All residents are encouraged to attend this additional board meeting, an opportunity for the board to discuss and decide on important topics affecting our community. In the last meeting, residents had the chance to share their opinions and suggestions. Topics for discussion/possible action during the April 13 meeting will include traffic-calming measures, updates on our current and future fund balance, and road maintenance planning.

SUMMER YARD CARE - As part of SEPO Policies and Procedures, if you will be leaving for the summer, please remember to contact Valerie in the office. It's important to inform her who will be taking care of your yard (name and phone number) while you are away. We want to proactively address any potential yard maintenance issues to avoid the weed problems we experienced last summer. Thank you in advance for following this process.

RECYCLE BIN - As of Monday night, we are still waiting for the RedFish recycling bin to arrive at the storage lot. The company currently does not have the desired bin size available. Although we were supposed to receive it last week, we still haven't. We appreciate your patience during this unexpected delay.

WILD ANIMALS IN AREA – We have received reports of some potentially dangerous wild animals on our property. This includes bobcats and javelinas along the resaca on Missouri Street and heading across onto the golf course near Wisconsin. These creatures are likely not a danger to humans, but we suggest keeping a close eye on smaller dogs/cats at night.

DUMPSTER - The temporary dumpster next to the tennis court was scheduled for removal on Tuesday morning. It was full as of Monday.

For those of you heading north to your summer homes, safe travels, and we will see you again in the fall.

- Lisa Seiser     President, SEPO Board of Directors

For expediency I'm just going to say that anything with a date of 03-18-2026 was either added or updated today. Those listings will be at the top of each of the web pages. If you've been watching a listing and it's no longer there, it probably sold and I had been asked to remove it.

AS A REMINDER

I will be on vacation (out of the country and unreachable for most of it) from Mar 7 thru Mar 16. During that timeframe I do have a backup who will be sending emails for me. However, there won't be any website updates made during this timeframe.

Please keep your emails to 'verbiage only' while I'm gone. No links, pictures or attachments.

If anything happens in my absence that SEPO Emails can't be sent at all, that fact will be posted on the 'whiteboard' outside of the SEPO Office/Library building.

And I might as well put my request in again for the following.

Starting next winter season, my goal is to have one or two of you great Sunshiner's to start assisting me with emails AND website updates. I've been at this for over five years now and I need to start thinking about 'at least' sharing the joy of serving this great community with some of you. 😊
