We have closed off the water supply to the Hall and Office today and tomorrow for some repairs. Please use the pavilion or card room bathrooms for the next couple of days. We will have signs posted on the five bathrooms, affected the office, the hall and the bathroom by the pool, sorry about the inconvenience.

Once again, they don’t build them like they used to. This air-conditioning unit cools the kitchen area in the hall. Broken fan bad motor parts are on backorder. It will be down for two weeks.
I have left the kitchen area open to allow air movement from the hall into the kitchen area so it does not become a sauna.
FYI - It appears the unit was replaced in 2018 and then one year later the compressor went bad. And now the cooling motor for the outside unit has also gone bad. So bear with us if you need to use the kitchen area in the next two weeks.

Sent 2026-07-21: Road Repair Status -

FYI, as for the completion of the road repairs, the project manager's contacted me and asked me to do a final inspection as they are not on site.
I asked the road crew to first start cleaning the job site, which they did this morning (July 20). Also, I found a couple of spots that needed attention, which they completed. Also, they are now going around and adding a wet tar coat to the edge of the repairs to help it adhere. Be advised, this is wet tar and a 100° day. Avoid driving over this until it's solidified.
Thank you so much. Sorry about the inconvenience, but hopefully this will make our community better by doing these needed repairs.

One of the hot tub motors overheated, but was found in time before it was damaged. We have shut down the hot tub. We are going to put in an electric protection system that will protect these motors from any future mishaps, hopefully.
I have decided, now would be a great time since the system is down anyway, to turn off the heater, do the repairs to protect the pumps, drain the system, allow the tub itself to bake in the South Texas Sun for a week, while taking up the flaking coating that we applied last year. Then reapply a new coating to the clean, dry hot tub surface and have it ready for everyone when they come down this fall.
That being said I will begin draining the hot tub on Monday (July 20). It will be closed for at least a week because it’ll be empty. The pool is fully functional, so enjoy the cool pool and eventually the hot tub will be open soon.

Quick update; the hot tub has been drained. We will let it air out and dry in the hundred degree weather the remainder this week and maybe, depending on the weather, reinstall a new coating to the hot tub. We will be sanding and scraping this entire week.

Hello Sunshine community,
I just wanted to let you all know there was a golf cart theft next door at Encore earlier this week. It appears the perpetrators were able to get in through our front gate. See picture (below) and video HERE.
Police have been contacted and our Neighborhood Watch personnel also are aware, but we know our community members must also be vigilant on their own.
So, please keep an eye out and lock your items up.

Cookbook update: The committee is wrapping up this project and is pleased to say we have 348 recipes!! It will be submitted to Morris Publishing in August, with cookbooks at Sunshine in October.
We are so thankful so many of you submitted recipes. With that being said, if you submitted a recipe and did not receive a confirmation that it was received, please reach out to Lisa Ellicott or myself and let us know. We don’t want to miss anyone’s submission.

Sent 2026-07-08: Temporary closure of Sunshine Access Roadway to Encore Driveway -
This applies to those of you who are currently residing in Sunshine.
Our roadway contractor will be constructing a new concrete valley gutter across our access road at Grace Ave as part of our roadway repairs this week. Drivers should not execute a left turn from Texas Ave onto the access roadway. Appropriate vehicles and cones will be in place to remind you of this change.
Be prepared to exit Texas Avenue and turn right onto the freeway frontage road to use the Combes interchange, then redirect your vehicle to proceed south.
It is anticipated that this closure will last 2-5 days, beginning Thursday, July 8, 2026. This projected schedule, however, is subject to dry weather in the next few days.
The pavement on our access roadway at Grace Ave will be overlaid with asphalt to eliminate the potholes at this location once the valley gutter is finished.
