Hello Sunshine friends!

 

Giving a report on the status of the Well. 

 

I’ve been told by AEP several times since the meeting that they were coming out to install the meter. And last Friday they showed to make the connection but didn’t have all the parts! They told us they would be back today to finish. 

 

I spoke with them this morning at 8:30 and was told they would be here in afternoon. At 3:00 they were still a no show and not responding to calls or texts. 

 

I will resume calling in the morning.

I sent a SEPO email to the community on Monday (see below) for Mary Hull. And today I saw additional info concerning this personal endeavor on the "SCC Estates Group" Facebook page. Knowing some or you aren't on Facebook, I have set up a page on the Sunshine Website under the EVENTS Tab in "Special (Winter 2025-2026)". If Mary sends me anything she wants to have an email sent about, I will do that. Otherwise, if you aren't on FB (or even if you are), you can check on the SS Website for updates. Hope this helps out you non-Face Bookers.

We have a brand new community refrigerator, thanks to the amazing ladies of The Women’s Club!

 

But you know what’s even cooler? Pat Heinerikson—a true appliance hero—found it, got it installed, and made sure our old fridge went to a good home (a church, no less… fridge with a halo now).

 

So get ready, friends — next season’s snacks, drinks, and leftovers are gonna be chillin’ in style!

2025-07-21: UPDATE: New Well -

We are nearing the activation of the new well that will provide irrigation for our community. This system is designed to mirror the coverage previously provided by the Resaca pump.

 

As we begin this process, we ask for your help in monitoring the area. Please be on the lookout for:

• Water coming from unmanned hoses

• Broken or malfunctioning residential sprinkler heads

• Any unusual pooling or accumulation of water
   

If you notice anything out of the ordinary, please notify me or any of our employees as soon as possible. Your attention and prompt reporting will help ensure a smooth and efficient transition.

Sent 2025-07-21: Jefferson Elementary Christmas program - 

Hi to all Sunshine residents! Hopefully most of you are back in your homes after repairs. You've all been in my prayers.

 

This is a reminder that I'm asking for donations to provide a special Christmas for second graders at Jefferson Elementary, the poorest school in Harlingen.

 

I'm asking for real barbie dolls and trucks/cars (nothing needing batteries), twin size pillows (our quilters are making pillowcases. Thank you ladies! ). Audra is making stocking caps in school colors..thank you so much!

 

There are about 30 second graders. If we get more than enough, we will do first grade as well. But I wasn't sure how successful our venture would be so thought I'd start small.

 

I'm trying to get a deal on backpacks so we can put crayons, pencils, rounded scissors, candy etc. We will gladly take financial donations to cover missing supplies. I will be back October 5. I have a special bank account specifically for donations. Pam Davis is my second in command so you can give her checks or cash prior to that.

 

This is not a Women's Club activity, but a Sunshine "adoption" as I'd like to make this an annual thing. Anyone willing to come the day of the celebration is welcome to help. We will need a Santa and Mrs Claus and someone to lead singing Christmas songs. I've been involved at another park and you will not regret it. These kids are so happy. Most don't have their own pillows which is why we are doing that. So please open your hearts and participate however you can.

P.S. it was suggested to do teacher baskets with things like Kleenex, markers and maybe a little something special just for the teachers.
