Sent 2022-10-20: Women's Club: Shrimp boil Update -

Get your virtual tickets for the shrimp boil in the library by Friday at 5PM!
We are not selling tickets at the door.
Cost is $10 per person for shrimp, sausage, corn, potatoes, bread and dessert! We will also provide iced tea and coffee. Bring whatever else you want to drink.
Doors open at 4:30!
See you there!
- Cathy Richmond     303-990-3730

2022-10 Updates -

Virtual signups for the shrimp boil are now available in the library. There will be boiled shrimp, sausage, corn on the cob, potatoes, bread, dessert, iced tea, coffee and condiments. Nothing is cooked with the shrimp for those who are allergic to shellfish. The food is kept hot in roasters, and you will be served. I need a couple more volunteers to work in the kitchen and serving line as well as a couple of strong guys to lift the cooked food out of the pots.

Doors open at 4:30.

Hey guys! 68 tickets sold in one day for the shrimp boil! Envelopes are in the library to sign up.

Several people have asked why there is not a signup sheet for the shrimp boil. My explanation comes from experience with using both the signup sheet and the virtual ticket box. Sometimes people sign up and forget to put their money in the box. The chair of the event then has to check with the resident and explain they didn’t put money in the box. Other times people sign up twice so the chair has to reconcile names with money.

It is far easier to simply take names from the envelopes in the box. Not very often do we have a limit on tickets. Since we have a limit of 160 tickets, I check the box frequently and will keep the community updated on how many tickets have been sold at least daily. All that being said see you at the shrimp boil on the 22nd!

Sent 2022-10-02: WC Shrimp Boil: Ticket Sale Date -

Shrimp boil tickets will go on sale October 12th by virtual tickets in the library. If you have friends who will be here for the shrimp boil but are worried about getting tickets, please sign them up.
Tickets are limited to 160 and will not be sold at the door.
Any questions call me at (303)-990-2730.     - Cathy Richmond

Sent 2022-09-23: WC - Shrimp boil -

The first women’s club activity this year is a shrimp boil on October 22nd.

It looks like we will be able to keep the cost at $10 per person!
There will be shrimp, sausage, corn, potatoes and desserts. The shrimp is cooked separately so those with allergies may safely eat the rest of the food.

Signup will be virtually in the library. A quick review of virtual signups:

  • There is a flowery lock box in the library. It will have envelopes on it that are stamped so you can fill in your name and submit either cash or a check made out to SCCE Womens Club.

  • A list will be compiled with names of paid residents and as you enter your name will be checked off at the door.

  • There is a limit of 160 tickets and no tickets will be sold at the door.

Watch the SEPO e-news for more details! Hope to see you there!     - Cathy Richmond

Sent 2022-09-11: Women's Club (WC): Shrimp Boil -

The first Women’s Club event of the season is the shrimp boil on October 22.

We will have shrimp, corn, potatoes and sausage (and dessert). All four main items are served from roasters and the shrimp is cooked separately for those who have shrimp allergies.

I would like to have a meeting of those willing to help next week to plan the event. Contact me text or call at (303)990-2730 if you would like to help and we will set up a meeting.
After the meeting we will be better able to let the community know the particulars.

Thanks in advance

Sent 2022-11-30: WC: CHRISTMAS DINNER 2022 -

Dear Friends,
Christmas is coming faster than we think
There is a CHRISTMAS DINNER "volunteer" signup sheet with only 'two' lonesome names.  😟       It is located on the WC Activities billboard in the Library.

I would like to have a planning meeting early next week and even if you can't make the planning part, we can use your help on Christmas day.

One potential early consideration is if we have turkey and/or ham.
We will need chefs (and carvers for the turkey) as most ham is already pre-sliced.

If we don't get a committee we together, we can have a Charlie Brown Christmas dinner:
                            Peanut butter & Jelly sandwiches
                            Root Beer Floats
                            Popcorn

Thanks

Can you believe it! Four short weeks from today we'll be shuffling out the Old Year and hosting in the New Year. WOW - 2023 is almost here.

So be sure and mark your calendars, and plan to attend, the Women's Club NYE Party. The committee is currently in the planning stages. We do know it won’t be fancy, but it should be a fun time for everyone.

I can tell you the party is:

  • Sunday, Dec 31 (DUH)

  • From 8 PM to 11 PM (see below)

  • In Retzlaff Hall

  • Music, Dancing and other Surprises (definitely still planning)

  • And what would a party be without food and drink

  • Virtual signup will begin soon in the Library

I know some of you might be asking - why end at 11 and not midnight? Ending this party a little early will give everyone the opportunity to; go home and go to bed OR watch the central time zone ball drop on TV in the comfort of their own homes in their jammies OR go to another party! 😊Please watch for event details in sepoenews as they are finalized. Hope to see you there!!!

Dear Neighbors,

Each year to welcome our new residents, the Woman’s Club hosts a new homeowner resident’s party. Our theme this year is How Sweet It Is!

We will be having this event on Friday, January 13th, 2023. The doors of Retzlaff Hall will open at 4 PM. We plan on having new resident introductions around 4:30, followed by a meal catered by the Koffee Klatch. We will have music and dancing provided by DJ Doug and his Lovely Assistant. Plus, a few door prizes for our new residents.

As always, the new homeowners will receive a hand delivered invitation soon with instructions on how to RSVP to the event at no cost. We will have virtual tickets available for $12 in the library with a sign up sheet about 10 days prior to the event.

We look forward to a fun night of fellowship with all of our neighbors. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Sincerely Yours,

Pam Davis 214-516-4844

Sent 2023-02-01: WC: Taste of Sunshine Potluck and Cakewalk -

Dear Neighbors,
The Women’s Club is happy to announce the upcoming activity of Taste of Sunshine with a Cake Walk. This event will take place on Thursday, February 23rd at 4PM.

With this event, we encourage everyone to make a dish from their childhood/adulthood lives or from the state in which you live/lived. This is a great way for us to get to know each other better through the love of food. When you enter the hall, you will place your dish under your state sign. Hopefully, we will see so many wonderful dishes and state pride from all of our Sunshine residents.

To make the event, a little more interesting, we have decided to add a cakewalk. We will have a sign-up list for anyone who would like to donate a baked good and we will sell cakewalk tickets for two dollars a walk. There will be other surprises as well!

We are looking forward to a wonderful time of fellowship with our community and encourage everyone to have fun and participate in this event.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. More details to come in the following weeks.

Sincerely,
- Pam Davis 214-516-4844 & Vicky Leroy 785-418-6208

We hope everyone is having a wonderful summer and look forward to seeing everyone’s safe return this fall.

As a reminder, we will be having a new unique event this season (Thursday, February 25, 2023) in which we will be asking everyone to prepare your favorite dish from your home state, country or a place that you have lived and loved. That being said, please think about what you would like to make and please be sure to bring any ingredients you may need from your travels back to Sunshine with you. We are looking forward to learning more about each other through food.

Also, as a bonus, we will be offering a cake walk during this event so please let us know if you are interested in donating a baked good.
