I definitely want to ensure everyone - it was a 'technical' error. The Google Meet session said it was recording and I verified to Tony just prior to the meeting that I thought it was as well. You will hear that on the recording I'm linking to below. However, the meeting did not get recorded. Normally Tony gets an e-mail from Google within 2-5 hrs after the meeting stating the video is available for downloading. This time - no e-mail - no video. In order for me to be accurate and thorough (or as some may interpret as lengthy - LOL) I also start my tape recorder at the beginning of all of our meetings. In order to be totally transparent with the community, which I guess you could call this Board's motto, I have uploaded my tape recording to the Web site for anyone who wishes to listen to the meeting. Please remember, this recorder is lying beside my laptop, and I also shuffle through lots of paper during a meeting, so you will hear those noises as well. I have listened to the entire tape, and you will definitely be able to hear what transpired during the meeting. It is a ".mp3" file and is available: from the Residents Meetings Web site page or directly from this link . As I have stated previously, a recap of all Speaker Requests (which there were five of them during the Residents meeting on Dec 13) will also be recorded into the Board meeting minutes from Dec 14, which I will be sending to the community next week. Please call me with any issue/questions. - Tributes | Sunshine Estates
In Memoriam Tributes 2021 Marian Seelye (September 8, 2021) It is with a sad heart to announce the passing of Marian Seelye, mother of JoAnne Anderson, and past resident of Sunshine. Marian had just come to stay with JoAnne and ultimately make a trip here. Marian laid down for a nap, JoAnne went to check later and she had gone peacefully with the Angels. Marian was special - she was the SCCE Choir Director several years ago for many years and assisted putting on many wonderful shows here, especially at the holidays. She also had her Choir group sing occasionally with the Sunday Night Sunshine Jammers and was a presence in many of Lassey's productions. And she made some great dishes for our Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. We will miss you but remember the "Good Old Days". God Bless American and God bless you and your family. Condolences can be sent to JoAnne Anderson (daughter) 22931 185th Street Detroit Lakes, MN 56501 Lenore J Combs 956 245 1276 2020 Steve Phillips (May 3, 2020) Sorry for short email earlier, not thinking real clear. If I may share some more... " My husband, Steve, passed away hours ago....Saturday night. He had another pulmonary embolism, he had one about five years ago. He has not felt good for weeks, but the Dr couldnt do a MRI because of covid. (Only emergencies, and his wasnt at the time) I dont know that they would have discovered it if so, but they did last time. I followed the ambulance to the hospital, and was with him about a hour before the Drs told me there was nothing they could do, and he was gone. He passed in the ambulance, but they recovered him, only to lose him in the hospital. The Drs said he had huge blood clot in both lungs and kidney failure. I'm still in shock. (I have asked family not to travel here, as it would be devastating to cause covid virus in anyone) Steve and I were very private people, but we dearly love our family and friends...in Texas and Oklahoma, also our dear friends we have made in Harlingen. Steve was incredibly proud of being the President of the men's golf here in Sunshine Country Club Estates and his three best buddies he golfed with daily. Also, his music making pal Wade, who would attest to what an amazingly gifted musician Steve was. Steve was the smartest person I've ever known and I will cherish our ten years together. We rock and rolled many nights away. His best friends in Dallas enjoyed his musical talents long before I met him, and were like family to him (and me). I dont imagine there will be a service here, with covid virus...but in about a month I will take his ashes/remains to Dallas, hopefully, and celebrate his life with friends and family there. I'm so sorry Steve's son, Jonathan has lost his father, along with Jonathan's wife and four children, and his other family members. Also, my family will miss him dearly. Ten years can make a lifetime of memories, and it did. Please be patient if I dont answer calls or the door too quickly, I am still trying to figure out what life is now, and that will take some time. We all have losses, recovering from them is an individual journey. My # is 214 549 3993 if any questions. Tomorrow seems far away right now. ⥠Irene Phillips Back to Top

Since the vote was not a tie, President Tony Tramel did not vote. **************************** CLOSED (Sep 19, 2021) **************************** Complaint - Water Behind W IA Ave (Submitted via e-mail on Jul 28, 2021) Complaint - A complaint was submitted via an e-mail to SEPO Board President Tony Tramel. It stated - the ditch behind this resident's house has never been properly maintained, including that it contained standing water where mosquitoes were breeding, for the two years this person has lived in Sunshine. the embankment was rarely mowed, contributing to the mosquito problem, and spraying from the street on a four-wheeler does not address the breeding ground in the ditch. Who has Responsibility - 2021-07-28: SEPO Board P resident Tony Tramel. Status / Action Taken - 2021-07-28 : SEPO Board P resident Tony Tramel acknowledged receipt of the resident's e-mail during his vacation. The resident was informed of the 'formal' process for submitting issues such as this, but was told it wouldn't be necessary to fill out the normal paperwork and that the e-mail would suffice as the submittal of the Complaint. Tony informed the resident he would contact her upon his return the first full week in August. 2021-08-12: Tony attempted on three different occasions (August 7, 10 & 12) via e-mail to set up a date and time to meet with the resident. No reply was ever received from the resident. 2021-09-19: It has been determined by the Board that the resident no longer wishes to pursue the issue. Therefore the Board is considering it CLOSED . The resident has been informed of this action via e-mail. ******************************** COMPLETE (Sep 14, 2021) ******************************** Tree Replacement on Golf Course (Submitted on Jul 28, 2021) Suggestion - It has been suggested that the tree on the back of Tee Box #5, that was lost during the 2021 winter freeze, be replaced. Who has Responsibility - This is being addressed by the Board Golf Course Director - Lyn Swonger. Status / Action Taken - Lyn has spoken to the person who submitted this request and it has been agreed that a new tree will be planted on Tee Box #5. Additional details will continue to be provided until this Suggestion is completed. 2021-09-14: A replacement has been planted on Tee Box #5. 2021-09-15: The resident was informed via e-mail the Board is marking this item COMPLETE. *************************** CLOSED (Sep 7, 2021) *************************** New Sunshine Activity - Bingo (Submitted on Jul 27, 2021) Suggestion - Have Bingo at Sunshine one night a week, to start, and see how much interest there is. Who has Responsibility - 2021-08-04: SEPO Board Secretary Beth Parrish solicited input from the Board and it was agreed that this is something that would be best addressed by the Women's Club (WC). Status / Action Taken - 2021-08-21: Beth Parrish sent the Bingo Suggestion to all members of the WC Board and also the WC Activities Director requesting they look into possibly having Bingo at Sunshine. Additional details will continue to be provided as they develop. 2021-08-27: The Women's Club has found out that we will not be able to have Bingo at SEPO because we are a 55+ community, which prohibits us from having Bingo, selling cards or paying out money. It would be considered gambling if we did it. We could only get a one-time license for $25 for a one-time event, but not ongoing. If we were 60+ we would be exempt. 2021-09-07: The composer of this SEPO Suggestion was officially informed today via e-mail by the Board of the Women's Club findings (above) and that the Board was considering this Suggestion CLOSED. Residents can make comments and/or ask questions. When a resident is acknowledged to speak, he/she must wait to be presented with a microphone and then state his/her name before beginning. Anyone speaking should limit their speaking time to be reasonable (2-3 minutes max). If the answer to a question is unknown at meeting time, the topic will be researched and the answer provided to the questioner. There will be no debate with any SEPO Board member. There will be no âshout outsâ from residents who havenât requested to speak. Vulgarity will not be allowed. The speaker shall not make any derogatory comments about any person(s). - Age Verification Survey | Sunshine Estates
Age Verification Survey (55+) Age Verification Survey (55+) (as of January 7, 2022) 1. Form Submission - It is the resident/renter responsibility to inform the SEPO Board of any Suggestions / Complaints / Ideas they may have by utilizing the process described below. The first step is to fill out the form available outside the SEPO Office or by printing it from HERE . Please be as detailed as possible, providing a thorough explanation and any photos and documents that help explain why you are submitting the form. If you have a suggested solution(s), please include on the form. Before submitting the form, ensure your NAME, DATE and CONTACT INFORMATION are included. (If your NAME is missing, your submission will not be addressed by the Board, and you will be notified of such.) There is a Suggestion Box outside the Office to submit your form. Please allow five to ten days to receive a response from the Board. 2. SEPO Board Review & Reply to Submitter â The Office staff checks the Suggestion Box every weekday for submissions. When the Office receives a completed and signed form it will be scanned and e-mailed as an attachment to everyone on the SEPO Board, noting the date and name of the person submitting the form in the e-mail of transmittal. The President may then consult with the Director(s) most responsible for the area(s) in question. The President will prepare a âdraft responseâ within 1-5 days of receipt of the form and send the draft to all Board Members, requesting comments and or suggested edits to the draft, via e-mail, within a reasonable timeframe. After receipt of provided edits/comments, the President will determine the final text of the response. At that point, a direct e-mail response will be provided from the President to the submitter of the form along with a copy of the submitted form, for ease of reference. Copies of the e-mail and attachment(s) will also be provided to all Board members. In the event the submitter has not supplied an e-mail address to the Office, the reply and submitted form will be hand-delivered to the submitter. The success of this approach is predicated upon providing a timely response to the person submitting the form. 3. SEPO Board Notice to Community â To keep the Community informed of the content of submitted forms and the Boardâs responses, both the forms (minus the Submitterâs name and Contact Information) and the responses will be distributed as a âSEPO Suggestion / Complaint / Idea Response Publicationâ by the Board. This would make the submittal and the Board response a public statement. It would also provide further notice that the Board wishes to be known as being responsive, transparent, and informative. The "Response Publication" will be: Sent to the Community via e-mail Posted on the Sunshine Web site Physically posted in the Office/Library Building (for 30 days) NOTE : The name and/or contact information of the person who submitted the form will not be published. Woodshop If you've never been inside the Woodshop, here's what the excitement is all about and what you're missing. SAWSTOP Table Saws General Info News & Events (Previous Years) Woodshop Events Woodshop Pictures (Various) General Info Location: The woodshop is in the Storage Lot area on the right-hand side as you enter the lot. Details: No fee (most HOAs, RV resorts charge a fee). Shop is open to members year-round. Shop is a 40' by 60' building. Woodworking building holds the latest and some of the best woodworking tools around. The lathes are used often. Members can work with power equipment after attending a Safety and Information class. Officers (for 2025, effective starting Jan 2025): President - Nancy Lyne Vice President - Hal Resides Treasurer - Richard Hulswit Secretary - Cathy Chajec Contacts: Please contact Nancy Lyne with any questions. Monitors: They are all volunteers. There must always be a monitor in the shop for safety reasons. Only monitors have keys to the shop. During winter months, monitors sign up on our calendar to monitor woodshop activities. The SEPO Office has a copy of this calendar. There is usually a monitor who goes to work on projects. As long as a monitor has the shop open, woodworkers who have had the "safety training" are welcome to come in and work OR check out equipment (small items like hand tools, ladders etc.) for a minimum of three days. In fairness to the Monitors, if there is little activity, they may close early, so if you wait until five (5) minutes before closing time, you may be disappointed. If you have a crisis need, you can contact any Monitor to find a time other than the above. Hours: Normal (Winter Seasons) - Monday thru Friday - Woodshop is open for use (as long as a 'monitor' is available) from 9:00 am to noon AND 1 to 4 pm. Saturday and Sunday - It is 'hit or miss'. But a monitor is usually there working on projects. Normal (Summer Seasons) - Open only when a monitor is there. It is kind of a catch 22. If anyone needs in the shop they can always call a monitor. Orientation: Woodshop orientation sessions for new residents/renters or anyone who would like a refresher course are generally held during the Winter seasons by John Chajec (708-280-8940). He notifies the community via SEPO email when these classes are scheduled. Meetings: Woodworker Meetings are held the 2nd Monday of every month beginning October through March. They start at 1 PM and last about one hour or less. Cleanup: Woodshop cleanup is the first Tuesday of every month at 7:30 AM and takes about an hour. Volunteers are most welcome. The Woodworkers sponsor a Spaghetti Dinner every winter for the residents. All proceeds are utilized for equipment, supplies etc. in the Woodshop. ******************** Back to Top Previous Woodshop Info Winter Season: 2025-2026 Sent 2025-12-15: Wood Shop Orientation Class Wednesday December 17th 5 pm - UPCOMING WoodShop Orientation Class Wednesday Dec 17th 5 pm in the wood shop. Sure enough, in these pictures you can see our own Vic Hillman hard at work. The woodworkers can work much more safely now. Suzie told me they shut down in a nano-second when flesh contacts the blade! We have 2 of them. Beth Parrish SEPO Web site Admin (FROM Newsletter: 03-2020) Woodworkers' Club Report - The Woodshop now has two SAWSTOPs (see pictures below) up and functioning; and both saws are paid for!! Our thanks to the SEPO residents/Woodshop Members who supported the fundraising effort to pay for the second saw after the Woodworkerâs treasury paid for the first saw. Our thanks to Pat Harvey for leading the SAWSTOP effort and his committee members who put in hundreds of hours transitioning from the older table saws to the SAWSTOPs. Jack Berning, Richard McCorkle, Kelly Kennedy, Steve Valmossoi, Vic Hillman, and Vern Luellen are thanked for helping with the installation of the new saws. Members are finding the new saws easy to use and, of course, safer. Feel free to visit the Woodshop because weâd like to show off the new equipment. Suzie Sawyer, President Back to Top

So I've decided it might be a good idea to list available rentals on our Web site - just as long as those wanting to rent their home keep me informed when they do get rented and also when they open up for rental again . This will also help Valerie to keep the 'Renters Directory', which is posted on the Web site under the Residents/Password Required tab, up-to-date. The current 'Renters Directory' on the Web site is OUT OF DATE. If you currently have changes to this information, please notify both Valerie and myself. So if anyone wants me to post their available Rentals on the Web site please send me the information you would like a potential renter to see i.e., your contact info, months house is available, price, pictures of your house etc. That information will be located here (www.sunshinecountryclub.com/for-rent ). Have a good summer! - Tom Perrier Sent 2023-04-20: Golf Course Maintenance - All of the following information is contingent on the weather (rain, wind conditions, etc.): At noon Wednesday, April 26, we will begin aerating the greens. We will be completed Friday afternoon. The course will be playable, but the greens will be rough and you will need to skip holes that are being actively worked. Throughout the next few months, on Thursday mornings (while itâs still dark), we will be spraying turf management solution. This is purchased at Home Depot over the counter. It helps with our grass and as a side by-product helps kill mosquitos where they breed. It does not affect ornamentals, roses, flowers, shrubs, trees, fruits, citrus, and vegetables. If you donât drink it, itâs safe for humans and pets. It has a smell to remind you to be extra aware for you and your critters. Also as needed, there will be periodic spraying to kill clover and encroaching carpet grass in small sections of the course. Thank you for your patience. In an effort to not have SEPO pay more for additional storage space, I have been reviewing the larger files that are linked to on the site. As I suspected our meeting videos took up LOTS of space. So that's where my cleanup began. I have downloaded all BOARD videos dated prior to Oct 1, 2022 to a personal storage device and removed them, along with any links to them, from the website. If you need/want to view anything I have removed, just send an email to sunshinecountryclubweb@gmail.com and I can get it/them to you. The Residents' meetings video are all still accessible on the website. I will be continuing with this effort the next couple of weeks. Wish me luck. :) - Beth Parrish SEPO Web site Admin E-Mail: sunshinecountryclubweb@gmail.com 314-960-6710 Back to Top

He died peacefully yesterday Thursday 3 March at home. Stan was an avid golfer and delivered Sunshine news on the net to us. Stan and Sylvia moved to San Antonio several months ago to be with family. God Bless them. -- Lenore J Combs Sent 2022-03-03: SEPO Communications Changes - As some of you know I have been looking into ways to free up my time from all of my Volunteer efforts for this wonderful community. I need to get some of my life back. Anyway, I have been reviewing all of the 'communications' tasks I perform concerning the Newsletter, E-Mail and the Web site. The Newsletter came first. After several months of asking for help or turning it over to someone, Sue (Sue-Bob) Swidryk has graciously accepted the responsibility of preparing and distributing the Women's Club Newsletter to the community ongoing, starting with the Oct 2022 publication. E-Mail was next. I will continue to send SEPO E-Mails but will be changing the timing of when I send them. Instead of sending the e-mails out whenever I sit down at the computer and see them in my Inbox, I will be doing the following. When a SEPO e-mail arrives in my Inbox I will 'queue' it up to be sent overnight. By doing this you won't have to be checking your e-mail throughout the day (which most of you probably don't do anyway - HA). You will see everything the first time you log into your e-mail (at whatever time of day that may be). This new process will start next Monday, March 7 . I hear some of you asking yourself - what if I need something sent out right away? The solution to sending 'emergency' e-mails is for you to either 'call' or 'text' me and let me know of the urgency. I will send it as soon as I can. NOTE: I will continue to update the Web site with all e-mails sent HERE . I will do this as time permits within 24 hours of an e-mail being sent. Now for the Web site. MARKET - Homes for Sale or Rent : I will continue to list these the same as I do now. Looking For AND Household+ For Sale will be Going Away at 5PM on March 15. I know this may upset some people. Although it is not difficult to do, it does take time to put those listings out there, most of the time with pics and then follow that up with an e-mail informing the community the page(s) were updated. And on multiple occasions I just get the info out there and I get a notice that the items sold immediately. Hence, I have to go out and delete everything I just added. As Background - Both of these pages were created when Covid-19 hit. No one was allowed to enter the Library, which is previously where these types of items were posted. Now you are free to go to the library 24 hrs a day. I will be asking the Board President, the Board Director of the SEPO Buildings and Valerie to determine if a different and/or better spot can be set aside in the Office/Library for residents to physically post these types of items ongoing. The community will be notified of the outcome of this review. OTHER WEB PAGES - I plan to do a thorough review this summer of how the Web site is set up and what types of information is being posted. I would appreciate any and all constructive criticism/help with making the Web site a useful place for our Residents/Renters to obtain information. And I also want to make it as enticing as possible to attract new residents to our community. On a final note, I will be updating any affected Communications Guidelines as my time permits and notify everyone when the guidelines have been updated on the Web site. If anyone has any questions, comments etc. about any of the above, please feel free to contact me. Thx for your understanding with these changes. The topic is Birds of North America and their habitat. There is no charge for the program, but we would like for you to sign up in the library, on the easel, if you are coming. That way we will know how many to prepare for. Cookies, ice tea & coffee will be served. Monday, March 7th, 7:00 PM in Retzlaff Hall.
