SEPO Community E-Mails: May 2020

Sent 2020-05-31: Covid-19 & Opening SEPO Facilities: Read Carefully -

NOTE: Due to confidential info contained within this e-mail, it is being sent only to RESIDENTS of Sunshine.

This is a repeat as well as an update to the SEPO Board position on “opening our facilities”, which is very conservative. Using social distancing is the primary method of guidance for SEPO residents. Masks are recommended, but not required, if social distancing is employed by every individual.

As you may know the pool and hot tub are in use, again with social distancing required. However, no outside visitors are permitted. Only residents of Sunshine can use the pool and pavilion. While your guests may be family, no one knows of their recent exposures on their travel to get here.

Our golf course is open only to residents. No visitors can play on our golf course.

We have stated previously SEPO must still conduct business. The office area is restricted, as we are only allowing persons in the office that have a need to transact SEPO business. Please call Valerie in advance to see if any SEPO matter can be resolved without entry into the office. Call Valerie at 956-425-1420, to schedule any needed direct contact with her.

The two doors, where one can enter the office area will remain locked, and will be opened from the office area by Valerie, once your presence is known.

The Library continues to be open on weekends by using the Keypad Pin on Saturday and Sunday. No access is provided during the week. The Pin# can be found HERE.

Because the entrance / exits are combined in the Sunburst Building there is no way to guarantee social distancing for the exercise room, the card room and/or the pool room. The exercise room, however, is now open for residents only, no visitors. Rules governing required behavior and sanitizing of equipment are posted on the walls of the exercise room.

The Woodshop, when monitors are present, is now open. However, social distancing is to be maintained while in the shop, face mask required and a max limit of 7 persons in the building at one time.

These conditions may change depending on many unknown factors in the future.
The SEPO board is trying to protect our employees as well as our residents. We all hope we will be trending back towards what life was before Covid-19. Thank you for your understanding.

Sent 2020-05-23: Memorial Day 2020 Monday 25 MAY at 3pm sharp -

Dear SEPO Friends, You are cordially invited and most encouraged to join us on Monday at the Flag Pole by the SEPO Office.  Help get the word out, please.

We shall start our brief Memorial Day remembrance at 3pm sharp. Come as you are - in a golf cart or lawn chair.  Upon arrival, simply park in your social space and enjoy the ceremony.  Dress for the heat and have a cool beverage handy.

Social distancing is paramount. Masks are encouraged.  SEPO rules are in effect for Corvid19.

Randy Nicholas, John and I will lead a brief program honoring our deceased Veterans and our recently deceased SEPO friends.

Memorial Day (Decoration Day) is a somber day to honor our military fallen and because of recent Covid restrictions, we shall also remember our SEPO family and friends who have passed this year.

This National Moment of Remembrance at 3pm is to remind us and future generations about the real meaning of this holiday.

Call me for questions.

A Killdeer is nesting on lot #111 in the Storage area. In order to make her more visible to those driving in the area, I have placed a ring of red rocks around the nest. Her young will be adorable, so I hope you will join in helping to protect her. Beth has loaded pictures on the Web site HERE.     Debi Warner

Sent 2020-05-07: Palm Tree Trimming in Sunshine: Payments -

On May 3 you were informed that you had the opportunity to have your palm trees trimmed. See e-mail below.

This notice today concerns anyone who is paying via check. The check needs to be made out to either Yuridia Oloarte (preferred) or Elias Oloarte. Their company will be trimming the trees for us. If you have already submitted a check that was made out differently, I have taken care of it, so no worries. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Because the entrance / exits are combined in the Sunburst Building there is no way to ensure social distancing for the exercise room, the card room and or the pool parlor, therefore these facilities remain closed until May 18th. After that date these facilities will open as directed by the Texas Governor.

Sent 2020-05-04: Neighborhood Watch Golf Cart -

Dear Friends, McGruff II was delivered and was used over this week-end. It is up by the SEPO Office.

It is a 2012 Club Car Precedent, 832 hours, one gentle previous owner, complete with battery charger mounted in the back with our protected cover and orange electric cord. The body to the suspension is in great shape. The price was $3000.00 and included new Crown batteries, almost new tires and LED front and rear lights. The Golf cart cover transitioned over, as well as, our rear view mirrors, amber rotating light and fire extinguishers.

Inside - on the dash are 2 toggle switches, one for the amber light and the other for the headlights. We have a key.  The chain for the lock to the steering wheel is installed.

A huge THANKS to Women's Club, the Memorial Club and our supporters, without whose generosity could not have made this purchase possible.

The NW Log Book will be used to log volunteer hours and patrol comments. The current Audit has a current balance of $865.59. Any further donations are welcome. The other McGruffmobile had 8116.5 documented patrol hours. THANKS to all those who have volunteered on behalf of Sunshine's safety and security.
