Hey there!   This is heidi dill  😁

I just wanted to encourage each person living at Sunshine Country Club Estates to please, please, please get your photo taken for the directory!!  Even if you don’t want to purchase a copy. 😊

When we first moved here, we knew very few people. The photo directory was a tremendous help in learning who our new neighborhood family was. Now there are so many more new faces here whom I’d love to get to know better!

Thanks!! And thank you to the committee working so hard to complete this book!!!

Sent 2020-01-23: Web site Change: Password Required Page -

I'm hearing some residents are having trouble getting to the Password Required page in order to enter the Password.

I have changed the format of the page under the 'Residents' Tab (https://www.sunshinecountryclub.com/residents-only) so that the click HERE button is near the top of the page in bold blue letters.

Of course, if you already have the password, you can go straight to the 'Password Required' page by hovering over the 'Residents' tab until the 'Password Required' tab appears.

Please contact me at any time with any questions you have concerning the Web site. This site is meant to make it easier (not harder) for folks to get to SEPO information.

Sent 2020-01-18: GNGT Gift Baskets -

The Good Neighbor Golf Tournament (GNGT) is a 35-year tradition of Sunshine Estates Country Club.

There are many prizes and awards during the Good Neighbor Golf Tournament banquet on Saturday. A few years ago residents started a tradition of preparing gift baskets as great prizes during the banquet. These baskets have been prepared in the past with the donor’s hometown in mind and with new items valued between $30 and $50. We hope both residents and non-residents will continue this donation practice. The baskets do not, however, need to be from your hometown region. To lessen your costs, you might want to consider creating a basket together with friends or neighbors. We would also be grateful for separate gift certificates or items that we could assemble into joint baskets.

Janis McFee and Eileen Anderson have taken on the mission of receiving and storing gift basket donations for the GNGT. If you and or your neighbors would like to prepare and or share in preparing a gift basket, we encourage you to do so by providing them to Janis McFee and / or Eileen Anderson prior to the scheduled event dates.

Based on history, the recipients of these unique gift basket prizes welcome this approach and truly appreciate everyone's generosity.

Sent 2020-01-16: Neighborhood Watch News -

Dear Friends, The Finger Lickin' Chicken fundraiser was a huge success - thanks to all who $upported it (virtual chicken donations included).  We cleared $ 970.00.  This will go into the NW bank account - books are open. It is used for NW stuff needed for patrols and such.

THANKS - to the cast of volunteers whose time, talent and dedication is so appreciated. Countless hours were spent with preparation, execution and cleanup. Volunteers don't get paid because their work is priceless.  It certainly brings out the Sunshine spirit and the reason we chose to live here.  THANKS again to all.

Reminder:  NO Neighborhood Watch meeting this Monday!
We will all be at the Winter Texan Appreciation Day program at the Harlingen Convention Center by Sam's  -  Come on down -  1p - 4p  You'll enjoy it.

Friday & Saturday -January 17 & 18  8am til 1pm there will be a Garage Sale in Sunshine. Because treasure hunters may have other intentions - watch out for your stuff.  Keep golf carts, bicycles, and other goodies out of sight or locked up is better.

Would like to stand up a roving Patrol - walk, run or ride with your Orange vest.  Let visitors know the "eyes of Sunshine are upon them".

Town Hall meeting in Sebastian - Lyford with Harlingen PD.  John and I and Norm from Encore were invited. The Sheriff's Department is seeking to develope a system such as ours but in a rural community covering miles.  We had an opportunity to discuss Neighborhood Watch, CERT and Citizens Police Academy. Officers Joe Gonzalez and Hector Villegas gave the Police side. Bill Synder reviewed CERT and we spoke about our NW and its effectiveness.

Also, Crimestoppers was there and several other like entities with many interested residents anxious to fill the gap addressing community strengths and shortcomings. This would be a community thing with neighbors helping neighbors. They would not have police powers or act in any official capacity but  be taught ordinary things for ordinary citizens. We felt very proud to be asked to exchange ideas and especially brag on Sunshine.  (That's why we are the premier NW program in Harlingen).

See ya, Lenore J Combs

Sent 2020-01-12: Happy Hour @ the Pavilion on Thursdays at 4:30 PM -

After the Pavilion was built it seemed like a perfect place to hold outdoor events - which it turned out to be. One of those is the weekly Thursday Happy Hour. This is a casual, fun time for you to get together with your current friends and also make some new ones.

Folks normally start gathering around 4:30 and stay 'till whenever they want to go home. They bring what they want to drink, and if they plan to eat, they bring some sort of finger food for everyone to munch on. This is not a potluck or anything fancy. Food examples to bring to the Pavilion include chips & dip, pretzels, popcorn, sausage & cheese, meatballs, little wiennies etc. Oh and, of course, desserts are always welcome.

NOTE: Some folks aren't the outdoorzy type (due to heat, etc) and do prefer to gather inside Retzlaff. It's everyone's own choice where they mingle, eat, drink and have fun. Not sure, but Retzlaff Hall may generally have a more boisterous spread for their eating enjoyment.

Since this is open to all Sunshine residents - paper plates, napkins and plasticware (if needed) are provided.

Brought to you by the Happy Hour party people

Sent 2020-01-05: Finger Lickin' Chicken REMINDER -

Dear Friends,
Orders for Chicken purchasing will go in tomorrow - Monday 6 January. Please get your order in by envelope or phone call  956 245 1276. Thanks to all who have contributed already.  You are appreciated.

This fundraiser is to acquire funds for the NW expenses - mainly Golf Cart, but for other items such as First Aid and Fire Extinguishers.   This is a modest budget for your NW and your money is spent wisely.  Books are always open.

Don't want chicken?? - Have you considered a "virtual" Finger Lickin' Chicken plate donation as an option? Envelopes are for the taking in the Library - clearly marked with a chicken and a dollar bill.

Your assistance will be most appreciated.    Thanks
  😇

NEW HOMEOWNER’S PARTY.  JANUARY 13, 2020 @5:00 P.M.

VIRTUAL TICKETS NOW ON SALE.  GET EM’ WHILE THEY’RE HOT!!

I HAVE HAD A FEW INQUIRIES FROM NEW RESIDENTS ABOUT “VIRTUAL TICKETS.”  Please allow me to explain.

Most events held here in Sunshine have virtual tickets rather than a paper ticket. The event to be held will be advertised on the EASEL in the library near the east door. There will be a signup sheet, cost for event, and corresponding money box below the easel. Sign the names of those planning to attend include cost of event, and write your name on envelope provided. Deposit envelope in money box! That is all there is to it! Your name will be placed on list of those attending and will be checked off when you arrive at door that evening. HOWEVER, THE NEW HOMEOWNER’S DO NOT PAY FOR THIS PARTY SINCE THEY ARE GUESTS OF HONOR.
